South Pacific 1985
This Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is based on the novel 'Tales of the South Pacific' by James A Michener. The plot revolves around a forbidden love affair between a native girl and a young American sailor on a Pacific island during World War II. The musical follows the spunky Nellie Forbush, a World War II nurse stationed on a tropical island in the Pacific. Nellie meets a French plantation owner and falls in love with the mysterious man whose lifestyle is so different from her own Little Rock roots. Meanwhile Lt. Joseph Cable, a marine sent to the island with top-secret plans to spy on the nearby Japanese fleet, becomes friends with a local merchant, Bloody Mary and she takes him to the enchanted island of Bali Ha'i where she introduces him to her daughter, an exotic beauty he soon becomes enamored with.
